I hope you are having a lovely Spring, and that the weather has improved wherever you are. The south has been very pleasant, aside from the occasional downpour and tornado watch. April was a bit of a recovery month for me, spending most of my time teaching in Aiken, and preparing mentally for the finish of the season.
Now that we near the end of April, I am beginning to train for the upcoming National League Semi-Finals (at the Aiken Tennis Club Tuesday May 19th), World Championship Doubles (at the Tuxedo Club June 1-7), and the US Professional Singles (at the National Tennis Club June 8-14).
My training started last weekend with fellow professional John Lumley, currently the assistant pro in Philadelphia, flying down to Aiken to train. John was only here for 2 1/2 days, but we managed to get in over 9 hours on court during the trip!! It was a great way to get back into the groove out on court, and I have to say John is hitting the ball well.
Training will continue now through May in preparation for the upcoming events. I will be flying up to Philadelphia later this week for another weekend of training with John, as well as my good friend Gabe K. I am looking forward to getting up to the Racquet Club as it is one of the best clubs in the world, with by far the best locker room in the world. (Sometimes it’s the little things that mean a lot!)
I will be updating the site more and more with lots of news, so please keep checking this space!
